Blanket America provides up to 1,000,000 Blankets

The goal of this new program is to provide up to 1,000,000 blankets to the needy this year, free of charge, with your help. Each purchase of a Blanket America patchwork quilt will provide another blanket to those in need.

Led by President Obama’s Inaugural call to action, this program was initiated to provide warmth while building an active, involved, community based action. The Inaugural Address called on Americans to bond together and take individual responsibility for each other.

Finding a way to be involved can be difficult for most of us. This is a way to be directly involved in helping others this year, with a simple purchase of a quality product. Without any extra effort, you can be a part of Obama’s vision, each of us working together like the pieces of a quilt.

We are a melting pot of many cultures and beliefs, stronger together than apart. This quilt of Americans is strong, much stronger than each piece would be alone. By commemorating this message in a patchwork quilt, Blanket America is making it possible for you to remember and treasure this ideal while making the contribution of another blanket to those in poverty.

This gesture of hope and compassion comes in the form of a colorful quilt made with patches of 13 different fabrics. It will fit in with any color scheme, and is backed with the words of the January 20th, 2009 Inaugural Speech highlighting the patchwork heritage of America. The quilt is available as a throw, full/queen, or king size with optional matching pillows and shams.

For each quilt purchased a blanket will be donated by Gifts In Kind International to a needy family. With the purchase of your quilt you will receive an informational booklet explaining the program, as well as a car magnet to display. These can help spread the word about Blanket America and show your support for this important work.

A quilt is a traditional gift for a new family, and this one would be especially touching coming as it does with the knowledge of helping others.
