A new program makes it possible to practice this rule and help the underprivileged while enjoying the warm feeling of generosity wrapped in your own patchwork quilt. Blanket America, inspired by President Obama’s vision of our patchwork America, brings this vision to life.

With each purchase of a Blanket America patchwork quilt a donation of a warm blanket will be made to the needy. This is made possible through a partnership with Gifts In Kind International. Further details will be available at www.blanketamerica.com soon.

The key is a piecework quilt comprised of many fabrics, symbolizing the blending of cultures and beliefs to create a stronger America. Beautiful and practical, the patchwork quilt is an American tradition of generosity, with women coming together to create warm bedding from the pieces available. These quilts were then gifted to one of the women or a needy family in the area.

You can carry on this tradition with your purchase of one of these quilts from Blanket America, keeping the lovely quilt while a donation is made of another blanket for each one purchased. Quilts are available as a throw, Queen, or King size with prices ranging from $59.99 to $99.99. Matching pillow shams and decorative throw pillows are also available.

President Obama’s January 20th address to the nation was a call to all Americans to help one another and to find the unity and compassion to weather these times.
