Patchwork Quilt Program Provides Blankets to the Needy

The Blanket America Program turns your quilt purchase into a warm blanket for a needy family. The goal of the program is to provide one million blankets this year, with your help.

On January 20th, 2009, President Obama delivered his famous inaugural address. He referred to our “patchwork heritage” as one of the unique features of our country. This message was the inspiration for this new program celebrating American diversity. The words of this inspiring speech are featured on the reverse side of the Blanket America Patchwork Quilt.

The Heritage Patchwork Quilt featured in this program is a traditional patchwork design that has been used for generations to create useful, warm, brightly colored bedding for family and friends. Comprised of 13 different fabrics, tightly sewn and quilted, this is a keepsake treasure that will commemorate our generous spirit for generations.

This inspiring keepsake represents the unity and strength through all people coming together. Turning to each other, making ethical choices and purchases, and choosing to be involved as Americans will allow us all to meet the challenges we face as a nation.

Blankets are available in sizes from throw (60” x 70”) to King (140” x 90”). Prices range from $59.99 to $99.99 with optional pillow shams and throw pillows available. Those of you who shop quilting shows will recognize that the price is very reasonable, with the added joy of helping others included free.
